TuneFace
TuneFace runs at 40.68 MHz, a much higher RF frequency, and clinics tend to quote it by area and time.
How it works
TuneFace is a unipolar radiofrequency device from Alma Lasers operating at 40.68 MHz. That frequency is far higher than the 6.78 MHz used by many monopolar lifting systems, and it tends to heat tissue in a more diffuse way close to the handpiece. The practitioner moves the applicator over the skin in continuous strokes rather than placing individual shots. The warmth is intended to encourage collagen remodeling, and results differ by person.
Good to know
- Because the applicator glides rather than fires, a plan is more likely to be described by minutes or passes per area than by shot count.
- Sessions are often planned as a short series, and the quote should state how many.
- Alma Lasers makes other platforms, so the written name should be TuneFace.
- A gliding treatment may be offered at lower intensity per visit, which can change how many visits a clinic proposes.
How TuneFace affects a treatment quote
Do not look for a shot count on a TuneFace quote. The more useful items are the treatment area, the planned time or number of passes, and the number of visits. If a clinic cites a shot count, ask how it was defined, since the device does not work that way.
A series changes the arithmetic. A figure for one session and a figure for a package of several are separate commitments, and the package may or may not be refundable if you stop. Ask what the per-visit equivalent is, then ask about the same with VAT and numbing. You can also ask how the clinic decides when the series is complete. The doctor's exam sets the plan.
TuneFace: common questions
Why is TuneFace not counted in shots?
The applicator is moved continuously over the skin, so planning is usually by area, time or passes.
How many sessions should the quote cover?
It varies by clinic and by person. Ask for the planned number and whether extra visits would be billed.
Can I compare TuneFace with a shot-based RF quote?
Only roughly. Convert both to a cost per visit and compare the areas covered.
