Skin Analysis Consultation

Digital skin analysis uses a camera system to photograph the face under different lighting and measure features such as spots, pores, redness and texture. It does not treat anything, but it influences what is recommended and therefore what you pay. Knowing whether it is a standalone fee or part of the consultation helps you read the rest of the quote.

How it works

You sit in front of an imaging device while it captures standardized photographs, some under polarized or ultraviolet light that reveals features not obvious to the eye. Software marks and scores areas such as pigment, vascular redness, pores and wrinkles, often comparing them with age-group averages. The doctor reviews these images together with a physical exam. The scores are an aid, not a diagnosis, and they depend on lighting, makeup removal and the device's calibration. Because it can be repeated, the same angles are useful for tracking change across visits.

Who it may suit

  • Deciding between several possible treatments before spending on any of them
  • Checking pigment and redness patterns that are hard to see in a mirror
  • Creating a baseline for comparing results after a series of treatments
  • People who want to understand their skin type and concerns in a structured way
  • Visitors with limited time who want a clear order of priority

The treatment day

  1. Remove makeup. The face is cleaned so the camera sees the skin itself.
  2. Positioning. You rest your face in the device so images are taken from fixed angles.
  3. Image capture. Photographs are taken under several types of light in a few minutes.
  4. Review with the doctor. The doctor goes through the images and scores and explains what they may mean for your plan.

Aftercare

  • No recovery is needed
  • Keep the images or report if the clinic offers a copy, so you can compare later
  • Photograph your skin in the same lighting at home if you want to track change
  • Ask which findings are a priority and which can wait

Things to know first

  • Scores are estimates, not diagnoses, and they can be affected by lighting, makeup, tanning and camera position
  • The analysis does not replace a physical examination, and suspicious moles or lesions need a dermatologist's assessment
  • Comparisons with age-group averages are statistical and should not worry you on their own
  • A report that recommends many treatments is not proof that you need them all
  • Image data are personal information, so ask how they are stored and shared

What the price of a skin analysis depends on

The first thing to find out is whether it is charged at all. Some clinics include the analysis in the consultation, some offer it free if you go on to have a treatment, and some bill it as a standalone line. Ask which applies, and whether the fee is credited against treatment if you proceed. Also ask whether the analysis is carried out and interpreted by the doctor or by a coordinator, because only a doctor can judge medical suitability.

The second point is what the analysis leads to. It is a gateway to a recommended plan, and the cost that matters is the cost of that plan. Ask the clinic to turn the findings into a priority list, with each recommended treatment listed with its unit, quantity and tax status, so you can see what is essential and what is optional. You are free to start with one item or to take the report elsewhere.

Finally, check what you receive. A printed or emailed report is useful if you compare quotes from more than one clinic. A repeat analysis at follow-up helps you see change over time, and clinics differ in whether repeat scans are billed. For visitors, a single scan early in the stay lets you order treatments sensibly, particularly when you cannot attend a long series.

Skin Analysis Consultation: common questions

Is skin analysis free?

Sometimes. Some clinics include it with the consultation and others charge for it. Ask whether the fee is credited if you proceed.

Do I have to buy treatments after the analysis?

No. You can take the findings away and decide later or compare quotes elsewhere.

Will I receive a copy of the report?

Practice differs. Ask before the scan whether images and scores can be shared with you.

Can the analysis replace a doctor's exam?

No. It is a tool the doctor uses alongside a physical examination, and it does not diagnose skin disease.
