Oxygen Facial
An oxygen facial uses a pressurized stream of oxygen to carry a serum across the skin surface. It is a comfort-focused treatment with no recovery time. The price differences between clinics usually come from the serum choice and what other steps are wrapped around the oxygen stage.
How it works
After cleansing, a handheld device sprays a fine mist of oxygen-enriched air mixed with a serum, often one containing hyaluronic acid or vitamins, onto the face. The pressure helps spread the product evenly over the surface. Claims about oxygen being absorbed deep into the skin are not well established, and the visible effect is generally a temporary look of freshness and hydration. Results vary by person and fade within days.
Who it may suit
- Skin that looks tired or dry and cannot take active treatments
- A gentle option for sensitive skin, once the doctor has checked it
- A same-day boost before an event
- Adding hydration at the end of another facial
- People who want zero downtime
The treatment day
- Cleanse. The face is cleaned and, if needed, lightly exfoliated.
- Choose the serum. A hydrating or soothing serum is selected based on your skin type.
- Oxygen delivery. The handpiece sprays the oxygen and serum mix over the face in slow passes.
- Mask and finish. A calming mask or moisturizer is applied, followed by sunscreen.
Aftercare
- Apply sunscreen as normal
- Moisturize to hold in the added hydration
- Skip harsh exfoliants or strong actives for a day
- Contact the clinic if you notice itching or a rash after a serum
Things to know first
- Allergy to any serum ingredient is possible, so mention known allergies
- Active infections, open wounds or severe acne flares on the face are reasons to postpone
- The pressurized stream can be uncomfortable on very sensitive skin or around the eyes
- Effects are temporary and it is not a treatment for wrinkles, scars or pigment
- Those with respiratory conditions or who are pregnant should check with the doctor first
What the price of an oxygen facial depends on
The session is the usual unit, and the first thing to settle is what the session contains. Some clinics sell a short oxygen step alone; others sell a full facial in which oxygen is one stage after cleansing, extraction and a mask. The same name can describe a much shorter or much longer service, so ask for the steps and the minutes.
The serum is the second variable. A basic hydrating serum, a brightening serum and a premium ampoule each carry a different cost, and some clinics show the serum as its own line. Ask which product is used and whether you can choose a simpler one if you want to keep the total lower. The tax status should be on the line as well.
Because the effect fades quickly, clinics may sell several visits together. A package makes sense only if you can attend them all, and a single session is a reasonable way to see whether you like the result. Compare the per-visit figure to what a basic hydrating facial costs at the same clinic, so you know what the oxygen portion adds.
Oxygen Facial: common questions
Does the serum change the cost?
Usually yes. Ask which serum is used, whether it is a standard or premium product, and whether it is a separate line.
Is an oxygen facial a full facial or a short add-on?
Both exist. Ask for the steps and the session length so you can compare like with like.
How often is it repeated?
Many clinics suggest every few weeks, but there is no fixed rule. A single visit before an event is common.
Is a package worth it?
Only if you will attend every visit. For a short stay, a single session usually costs less overall and commits you to nothing.
