Ultherapy PRIME

How it works

Ultherapy PRIME is the newer-generation platform from Merz Aesthetics and uses the same basic idea as the original: focused ultrasound delivered at set depths, guided by a live image of the tissue. Treatment still proceeds line by line, with transducers chosen for the layer being targeted. The newer platform is described by the maker as an update to the handpiece and software experience. Whether that changes comfort or results for a given person is not something a quote can show.

Good to know

• A price list that says only Ultherapy may refer to either generation, so ask for the exact system name in writing.
• Line counts remain the working unit, and the PRIME name does not by itself imply more or fewer lines.
• Transducer cartridges are consumables with a rated line capacity, and the quote should say whether they are inside the total.
• Mixing the two generations in one comparison table can make a gap look like a pricing difference when it is partly a version difference.

How Ultherapy PRIME affects a treatment quote

The most useful thing to pin down is the version. When one clinic quotes the original platform and another quotes PRIME, the figures are not strictly comparable even if both read lines, because the equipment, handpiece and software differ. A short written line naming the system settles it.

After that, treat it like any line-based plan. Ask for lines per zone, the transducer depths, whether the cartridge is itemized, and whether a second pass or a refinement visit sits inside the figure. VAT and numbing are separate yes-or-no items. If a clinic cites the newer platform as a reason for a higher total, ask what in the plan actually changed.
