How resurfacing and scar treatments are priced
Fractional lasers, microneedle RF, microneedling, subcision, and TCA CROSS all work on texture and scars, but their cost structures differ. Some use a single-use tip, some are priced by area, and some by scar. Here is how to read each and how to choose.
How to choose
Depth and downtime
Stronger settings may need fewer visits but a longer recovery. Compare the total plan, including time away from daily routines.
Single-use parts
Needle tips, scanner parts, and kits may be inside the fee or listed on their own. Ask for the line.
Area or scar count
Full-face resurfacing and a few targeted scars are different scopes. Scar-specific methods are often priced per scar or per zone.
Session spacing
Intervals of several weeks mean the plan runs for months. A package price spreads over that time.
Numbing and aftercare
Numbing cream, wound-care products, and a follow-up check are common separate lines.

When a doctor may advise waiting
- People with active acne flares or infection in the area, who should wait for the doctor's advice.
- Anyone who recently used isotretinoin; the doctor decides on timing.
- Those who cannot protect the skin from sun during healing.

Is stronger resurfacing better value?
Not automatically. It can cost less in visits but more in recovery and aftercare. Compare the plan as a whole.
Why do scar treatments have unusual units?
Because scars are individual. Methods aimed at a scar are often counted per scar or zone instead of per face.
