PDRN Skin Booster
PDRN, polydeoxyribonucleotide, is a DNA-fragment ingredient used in skin boosters. Several products exist, and they differ in concentration and carrier, so the main cost question is which product is used, how much per session and how many sessions are planned.
How it works
The solution is injected in many tiny points in the skin. PDRN is thought to support the skin's repair and hydration processes. It is used for dull, tired-looking or thin skin and for fine lines. Evidence is still developing, and results vary by person, so expectations should be modest and sessions are usually repeated.
Who it may suit
- People with dull, thin or tired-looking skin.
- Those with fine lines who want a gentle, gradual approach.
- Anyone who wants to combine it with another booster under medical advice.
The treatment day
- Assessment. The doctor checks skin condition, allergies and the product to be used.
- Numbing. Numbing cream is applied and left to work.
- Microinjection. Small droplets are placed across the skin.
- Series planning. Sessions are typically a few weeks apart, with review between them.
Aftercare
- Expect small bumps for a day or two and avoid rubbing.
- Skip heavy makeup, saunas and strenuous exercise for a day.
- Use sunscreen and a gentle moisturizer.
- Bruising may take several days to fade.
Things to know first
- Bumps, redness, bruising and swelling are common.
- Allergy is possible, especially if you react to fish products, since PDRN is often salmon-derived.
- Not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with active infection or inflammatory skin disease.
- Results vary by person and the supporting evidence is still limited.
What the price of a PDRN booster depends on
Product and concentration come first. Different PDRN products are on the market with different amounts of active ingredient per vial, so a lower figure may be a lower dose. Ask for the brand and the amount per session.
Session count follows. A series of three to five visits is usual, so the total is the per-session figure multiplied by the visits. Ask how a package treats unused sessions.
Check lines for numbing, consultation and VAT, and whether the quote covers face only or includes neck. Because PDRN is often layered with other boosters, ask for each product on its own line.
Foreign visitors should ask early whether the tourist VAT refund paperwork is available, and whether a multi-session package can be used if travel dates allow only one or two visits. A plan that suits a resident is not always practical for a short stay.
